HTC CEO, Peter Chou, give an announcement that the bootloader for future HTC Android devices will be unlocked as many customer gives feedback requesting it. The announcement was posted on HTC Facebook fan page on Friday May 27, 2011.
“There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience,” Peter Chou, CEO of HTC
This of course good news for HTC Android device users as rooting the device will be much easier. Current HTC Android devices is locked making it more difficult to get root access and to load custom ROM such as Cyanogen which promising latest updates and features that is not available on stock ROM.
However it’s still unclear when they will fulfill this announcement, and whether they will also unlock devices that just released such as HTC Desire HD, HTC Flyer, HTC Sensation, HTC Incredible S and HTC Desire S on their next update.
