Logitech recently launching two new computer mouse that have the ability to work on a clear glass table. Logitech Darkfield Laser Tracking enable mouse to track movement on almost any surfaces including 4mm thick glass table and high-gloss surfaces.
How it works
The regular mouse track movement by detecting the textural details of the surface. The sensor works well on irregular surfaces such as mouse pads or white paper. However, glass or glossy surfaces are almost completely flat hence the regular mouse sensors can’t detect movement.
Logitech Darkfield uses dark field microscopy to detect microscopic particles and micro-scratches on these surfaces, rather than tracking the surface itself. It’s like we look into clear night sky and seeing the stars as a pointers. The Darkfield mouse sensor sees the glass surface as a dark background and the dust as pointers to track the mouse movement.
Both mouse comes with tiny USB receiver which you can plug and forget. Additional feature of this tiny USB receiver is Logitech® Unifying receiver, which enable you to add up to five compatible devices in single receiver. So you can plug the receiver on your notebook and no need to unplug it when you move around.
